My name is Kerrie and I’m one half of twogirlsandanovel.blogspot.com.au. I am an avid reader of paranormal romance novels and I can usually be found with my nose in a book and my head in the clouds.

The reason I love paranormal romance novels is that they generally are set during our time, which means they are relatable, but the paranormal element gives it that special touch that allows you to escape this world and enter a new one. It allows a story to go ‘out there’ to places where other romance genres might not be able to go.

If you ask me, there are three things that a good romance novel needs to succeed.

  1. A heroine that readers can relate to
  2. A sexy alpha male to drool over
  3. Passionate love scenes that will have you blushing from head to toe

Under A Vampire Moon by Lynsay Sands covers all these points (yes, blushing will ensue) plus it also brings with it a lot of humour which makes it a truly wonderful read.

So what’s it about? Carolyn’s 42 and in the final stages of a very nasty divorce. To help cheer her up, her two friends organise an exotic island getaway. Carolyn soon comes to the realisation that this trip isn’t turning out the way she had hoped it would and she ends up alone on an island filled with happy honeymooners. Not the best place to be when you’re feeling alone and depressed. But all that’s about to change when she meets Christian, a member of the resort band – mysterious, 25, Italian and drop dead gorgeous.

As soon as Christian sees Carolyn he knows that she’s his ‘mate’, and will stop at nothing until she is his. Unfortunately for him, getting Carolyn is proving to be near impossible thanks to her refusal to get involved with a younger man. If only she knew that Christian isn’t what he seems. Christian’s family, who are also on the island, try to help him on his quest for Carolyn and some of the funniest moments are because of their ‘help’. I just adore Christian’s cousins; they are hilarious. I can’t tell you how many times I laughed out loud because of something they said or did (I then looked around to make sure no one heard me).

Under A Vampire Moon focuses on Carolyn and Christian’s relationship, and it was amazing to watch their connection grow and become something so intense and powerful.

This novel is great for anyone who hasn’t read paranormal romance before and might be a little wary. It will help ease you into this exciting genre where anything goes.
